Placing Photos

Placing Photos in Apertures

To place a photo in a mat aperture, simply drag the thumbnail from the Photo Preview to either the Album View, Page View or Leaf View.  Images on a mat can be swapped by dragging the photo from the Page or Leaf View to another aperture.

Positioning Photos

Positioning of photos is done by pressing the mouse button over the image and dragging the image into the desired position. There are minimum overlap limitations on some album types, so you may need to zoom in to move the image.

Zooming Photos

To zoom in or out of an image, use the zoom slider on the right hand side. The value at the bottom of this is the furthest out an image may be scaled (allowing for aperture overlap). The top represents the maximum zoom factor. The actual scaling value is given in DPI in the box on the control panel.

Control Panel

The placement values may be adjusted manually, there are three aspects to the control panel:

Movement Arrows

These arrows are an alternative to move the image placement. They move the image by 1mm in their respective direction. The centre square centres the image.

Scale (dpi)

This is the effective DPI taken from the original image resolution and the actual size of the aperture. For maximum print quality, this should be close to or higher than the export DPI.

X / Y Position

The horizontal and vertical offsets of the image placement. These measure how far the image is placed to the right and down from the top-left of a rectangle bounding the aperture.

Rotation

The image may be rotated by increments of 90 degrees. This is done using either the rotation arrows or by selecting a rotation from the option box labelled Rot.

Keyline Borders

Photos placed in an album may be given an optional Keyline Border. This is done for individual images by selecting Image->Image Properties->Borders. To add keyline borders to the whole album, go to Album->Page->Photo Borders

Enable Border

Select this to activate the border on this photo.

Border Colour

Choose the required colour.

Border Thickness

Set the thickness of the border.

Note: The border will be centred around the edge of the aperture - this means that a border width of 4mm will have 2mm inside and 2mm outside the aperture. So if this is put into a matted album, only 2mm of the border will show.
