Pages & Mats
Pages
A page in an album contains two sides. The Album View and Leaf View in JAD represents an open view of the album, with the cover page adjacent to the first side.
Pages may be added or removed through the Page menu, as long as the number of pages does not exceed the allowed maximum or minimum for the specified type of album.
Flip Pages
Page Flips are allowed on certain types of albums. They can be added and removed by pressing the add flip button on the top of the Album View page representation. To open and close a flip, press the open/close button at the bottom. This is shown in Figure 1. Mats
Mats contain apertures for placing photographs. To place a mat on an album page drag the mat from the Mat Selector to the desired page on the Album View, Page View or Leaf View.
There are 7 different categories of mats that can be used, these are:
- Standard Mats
- Standard Computer Cut Mats
- Custom Computer Cut Mats
- Panoramic 2
- Panoramic 3
- Panoramic 4
- Favorites
Inserting and Deleting Pages

You can insert or delete a double or single page at any point in the album with the following exception:
- A single page cannot be inserted or deleted at any point BEFORE a Panorama across 2 or more pages
Shuffling Pages
You can change the order of pages by dragging them from one side to another. This only works with the pages that can be viewed within the window. If you need to drag a page, say, from side 1 to side 24 then follow these steps:
1. Using the standard layout, select the Leaf View Tab and drag it to the right. This should undock the view from the rest of the tabs.

2. Select Album View from the remaining tabs
3. Drag your selected page from Leaf View to the new position in Album View. (you can also drag from Album View to Leaf View).
CARE: select the background page image, as it is possible to also move photos in the same manner!!

4. To return to the standard layout, go to View > Reset Layout
The Mat Selector
Standard and Standard Computer Cuts
Standard Mats and Standard Computer Cut Mats are defined and cannot be modified, however you can create a custom mat copy of these to modify. The set of these standard mats is different for each mat size. Only mats of the correct size are available for use in an album.
Panoramic mats span multiple sides, enabling an open page with photos which go across page folds. Panoramic 3 and 4 mats must be used with flip pages, to enable them to fit. Panoramic mats can be custom built, however they must be created with an aperture spanning every boundary - this could cause much confusion.
Mats may be rotated on the page using Mat->Rotate Mat Left/Right . Standard mats may not be flipped since they have a front and back. Custom mats can also be flipped horizontally and vertically using the custom mat editor.
The frame of the left hand side of the JAD is the Mat Selector, this is shown on the right of this page. This contains mats grouped by their category. To change which mats are shown, change the selected option in the box at the top. Custom Mats will always appear in the Custom category.
Custom Mats
With JAD, you can create your own Custom Mats and save them to disk to use again. See Custom Mats for more detail.
Panoramic 2, 3,4
Panoramic mats span multiple sides, enabling an open page with photos which go across page folds. Panoramic 3 and 4 mats must be used with flip pages, to enable them to fit. Panoramic mats can be custom built, however they must be created with an aperture spanning every boundary.
Favorites
Any mat can be added to Favorites simply by right mouse click. These mats will be available for future selection, even after closing JAD.
E Albums
There are no actual Mats with an E Album. However JAD treats the templates which are used to place images on the pages of an E Album the same as Mats in other album types. These templates are more suited to layering and keyline borders.
S Albums
S Albums are a hybrid of a Matted album with an E Album. The actual album has a single mat, inside which multiple apertures can be customised using the Custom Mat Editor. The area around the border of the album is not visible, since it will be underneath the physical mat. When making custom mats for S Albums it is recommended to cover the entire area inside the mat - anything in the area shown in blue in the custom mat editor will not appear.
Twin Mats
Twin mats are an option where a second mat gives a border effect for each photo. They can be selected for the entire album by selecting the Twin mat colour required from Page Properties -> Mat Properties or for a single page with Mat Properties -> Mat Colour Override. The default is none, in which case there are no twin mats.
Core Board Mats

These are made from thicker (approx. 2mm) board and the apertures are cut on the bevel revealing the white inner core.
