JAD Version 1.7.1

Modifying Images

You can use this function to make changes to images in your album design. This will open the original image file in your editor. If you don't want to edit the original it is recommended that you have a backup.

To modify and image, select it with the mouse in either Photo Preview, Leaf View or Page View and right mouse click.

An Image Modifier must be configured before you can use it.

Setting up the Image Modifier

Select either  File>Preferences>Image EditorsOR Image->Modify Image->Configure... - this will open a list of available Image Modifiers. To create a new one, press the New button, to change or remove an existing one select it and press the edit or delete button.

To actually work, an Image Modifier must be set up to point to a program on your computer. The required attributes are:

Name

The name which will appear in the menu.

Description

A description of this program

Program Command/Application

A command to execute this program. If the command contains the % character then this will be substituted with the filename, otherwise the filename will be appended as a parameter. Macintosh users should select the application from the directory /Applications. If this fails then decend into this directory and locate a file which launches the editor. See example below for Photoshop on Mac.

Windows Example:

Name:Photoshop
Description:Photoshop 6
Program Command:C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop6.0\Photoshop.exe

Macintosh Example:

Name:Photoshop
Description:Photoshop 7
Program Command:/Applications/Adobe Photoshop 7/Adobe Photoshop 7.0

Note: For Mac OSX, Most applications can be linked using the .app path in /Applications. This example shows an exception.

Modifying Images

Once a command is configured, it should appear in the Image->Modify Image sub menu. When this command is selected from the menu, the currently selected photo image will be loaded in the external program. Make the required changes to the image and save it to its original location. When you return to the JAD after saving this, the new version will be reloaded into the album.

Note: On some Macintosh systems it is necessary to restart the program after new Image Modifiers are added - otherwise the new menu item will not be available.
