JAD Version 1.7.1

Exporting Prints

Once an album is complete, the prints can be exported to image files to be sent for presentation quality printing, either in-house using ink jet printers or photographically using professional digital printing equipment.  It should be noted that this process can be lengthy and memory intensive.

To open the  Export option dialogue, select Order ->Export Images...

The result of exporting prints from JAD is a directory containing image files, cropped and scaled as defined in your album, to be used for printing. Output files are created for printing at the specified dpi and will contain the specified resolution in the file header where possible.

JAD may create 2 folders where the Export Properties as defined in creating the album have been set to other than “Entire Mat”. (see Print Sizes below) In this case, for pages that fall within the parameters set, the images will export to the file named by the print size selected e.g. 11x14.  For page images that fall outside of these parameters, a separate folder will created called “DidntFit”.

Print Sizes

The size of the print created by JAD can be controlled by setting the Print Size in Album -> Export Properties. The sizes available range from "Best Fit" to 16 x 16 down to 7 x 7 (inches). When "Show Border On Screen" is selected, a red line indicates what the crop region will be - if the red line is missing then the mat will not fit within the print size requested.

The red border will also print as a bounding border on the composite image.

Prints are placed in a directory based on the print size, with a warning given for any which do not fit.

The following options/inputs need to be established for exporting:

Destination Directory

The Directory to place the produced prints. When using the browse button, the directory must be selected with the Select button - not by double clicking.

Printing DPI

The effective resolution to export the images at. If you print the exported images at this resolution then they will be the correct size to fit in the designed album.

Mats to Export

Select the mats you wish to export the photos from. Press the All Mats button to select the entire list. Hold down the Shift or Control key when selecting to select multiple entries.

Output Type

This specifies the portion of the page which is included in the image exported:

Slide Show

Each page is exported as is shown in Album View or Leaf View. This is ideal for a presentation slideshow of the album.  JAD will automatically set the print resolution for this to 100dpi.

Printing of Files for Individual Prints

Each photo from the page is exported as a separated file, including an overlap where applicable (minimum 2.5mm).

Printing of Files for E Albums

The entire page side will be exported as a single image, as it appears in the album. For use with mats see Export Composite Mat Prints below.

Printing of Files for Pages With Mats

The page side will be exported as a single print with each image overlapping into the space between apertures. This is recommended for use with Mats - simply place the Mat over this print and the photos will be aligned.

Create Overview Sheet

If this is selected then an overview sheet will be produced as an index to the visual layout of the pages in the album. This is produced at 10% of the Export DPI.

Output Format

The file format to write the resulting image files. Select from the available options.

Once OK is selected, the export will proceed to produce the image files - progress is monitored with a progress bar on the screen.

Note: The system is still operation whilst exporting prints, however it may hinder the export process if you continue to use the system. Also, any photo placement changes may or may not be included in the exported prints.
